Overview:
Through this 30 hour course, we will explore the ancient wisdom tradition of Ayurveda, and exploring its influence in modern day Yoga Therapy. This course will count for 30 CEU hours with Yoga Alliance.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a traditional form of Indian Medicine that focuses on keeping the bodily systems in balance throughout the use of diet, breathing exercises (pranayama), lifestyle routines and herbal intervention. In Ayurveda, it is believed that true health is only attained when there is peace in the mind, physical body and spirit. Yoga and Ayurveda are allied sciences; you will often hear them referred to as “sister sciences”. Through these healing practices, we strive to become the highest version of ourselves.
What is Yoga Therapy?
As defined by the brilliant Yoga Therapist and Ph.D Richard Miller: “Yoga therapy may be defined as the application of yogic principles to a particular person with the objective of achieving a particular spiritual, psychological, or physiological goal. The means employed are comprised of intelligently conceived steps that include but are not limited to the components of Ashtanga Yoga, which includes the educational teachings of yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi. Also included are the application of meditation, textual study, spiritual or psychological counseling, chanting, imagery, prayer, and ritual to meet the needs of the individual. Yoga therapy respects individual differences in age, culture, religion, philosophy, occupation, and mental and physical health. The knowledgeable and competent yogin or yogini applies Yoga Therapy according to the period, the place, and the practitioner's age, strength, and activities.”
Ayurveda is an ancient wisdom tradition, with it’s exact origins being unknown, it was believed that the samhitas were originally transcribed between 500-1100 BCE. These remarkable ancient Indian teachings are experiencing a flourishing resurgence in today’s imbalanced world, with much of our society consumed by constant movement and desire for stimulation. Through Ayurveda we become attuned to our environment and learn to see ourselves as a reflection of nature in order to live a more harmonious life. This 30 hour workshop is intended to give yoga teachers and students a clear understanding of their Prakriti (original composition of doshas decided at the moment of conception) as well as tools to combat their Vikruti (current imbalanced state of doshas). Yogic practices, diet and lifestyle modification will be discussed as well as practical Ayurvedic application for yoga teachers.

Among completion of her first 200hr teacher training at Trilogy Sanctuary, Caroline is also a certified Aerial Yoga instructor and finds tremendous healing and freedom of expression through the aerial arts. She completed her 300hr teacher training at the Soul of Yoga Institute in Encinitas and is currently registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 500. Currently working towards a certification in Yoga Therapy (I-AYT) through the Soul of Yoga, she has had the honor and privilege of studying under various experts with lifetime's worth of experience in the field of Yoga and Vedic studies, such as Dr. Richard Miller, Leslie Kaminoff, Indu Arora, Nischala Joy Devi, Bernie Clark and Yogi Mas Vidal.

Ayurveda is one of her greatest interests, and she pulls much inspiration for her classes from the Ashtanga lineage and the teachings of Pattabhi Jois.
